MARIA
OWNER / CREATIVE DIRECTOR
My name is Maria, owner of Niche Boutique Florals and Niche Events. I began my career in the event industry working with dozens of not-for-profit charities. I decided to follow my passion for event design, decor, and florals and created Niche Events in November of 2010. I am proud and honored to have worked on over 300 weddings and events over the years. My mother was an interior decorator and floral designer and my father was the architect of some of the most prestigious homes in British Columbia. It is really no surprise I always had an interest in event design, planning, and creating beautiful things. I attend conferences, workshops, and classes every year, learning new skills and the newest trends in the event design market. I am a certified wedding planner with the Wedding Planning Institute of Canada and have had the opportunity to be trained by Celebrity Florists such as Karen Tran, Hitomi Gilliam, Holly Chapple, Alicia Schwede, Sarah Campbell, Christin Geall, and Katie Davis. I have also had the opportunity to travel to Paris to learn from Florisan by Akiko. On May 26, 2018, I decided to take a leap of faith and open our first flagship “Le Marche Aux Fleurs” located on Mavis Street in scenic and historic Fort Langley BC. My European-inspired shop features old-world charm giving the aura of a small village in the south of France. I love to travel the world and I have carefully selected giftware, bath products, confectionary, candles, and bespoke stationery that represents our style and brand to complement our beautiful seasonal flowers that we carry daily. I am hoping you will love our boutique as much as we do and desire to visit often. I am very lucky to have chosen a career in the field that I love.
LINA
SENIOR FLORAL DESIGNER
Ever since I can remember flowers have been a part of my life. Whether it be picking, planting, drawing, or arranging it is a passion that I have nurtured and developed into a budding career. Concentrating on the past 10 years in floral retail has helped me fine-tune my skills working with each client who walks into the shop. Having the ability to create unique and beautiful flowers to match each occasion is something that comes very naturally. Flowers bring memories of many milestones in our lives both happy and sad. Creating flowers for celebrations of life, funerals and memorials is something that I take great pride in. Sitting down with the family and learning about their lives helps me shape and develop a beautiful send-off for their family to remember. Through the years another passion that has developed is teaching. I love sharing my knowledge of plants and flowers, and the science behind them. Demonstrating techniques and sharing tips and tricks that I've learned and developed over many years of experience and experimenting. I love nothing more than spreading the joy of flowers.
